The Master's Return

Hello Everyone. Hope you enjoyed the Christmas Holiday and are ready for the New Year celebration.

Preshea and Lydia have been waiting for the return of the master for over a year and they are shocked to see his face half covered with a metal mask and his beautiful hands inside unsightly white mittens.

He says they must never ask what happened whilst he was away or enquire about the contents of the coffin shaped box on the back of the steam wagon. He promises to tell them some of his adventures later when he is rested.

For those of you who never saw Preshea and Lydia before I made them back in November but I have just
finished the Master so that I could add them to Amy's 72 hours party at The Crafty Book Nerd

The story will continue when I make more characters.

Happy 2013 to Everyone

Happy Christmas All and Hatter's challenge 39/40

A very Happy Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2013 to all my blogging friends. It is wonderful to have got to know so many of you as friends and I always look forward to reading your comments and visiting your blogs. Hope we continue to get to know each other even better as time goes by.

At Out of a Hat this week and next we are doing birthstone colours. I made mine for Janet as we two are still making swaps from things that Janet sent-this is the last one so I have used all that she sent now. This challenge will last 2 weeks as we are all having a rest for Christmas.

Janet's birthday is in November so the stone is Topaz. There are various shades of Topaz but I used the colour that is on the chart at the Hatters.

The board I used is 4x4 inches and was one of the things that Janet sent. I added a bit of lace and coloured that with distressed ink-in fact I covered almost everything in distressed ink. I found several topaz coloured jewels in my bits and bobs box and added those as well and a bit of copper wire to make the hanger.

This is a poem for November birthstones.

Do go to Janet 's blog and see what she has made for the project

Sandra is taking time out until January as she is so busy-she will be back for the first challenge in the new year and she has thought up the idea for that one.

Choose a Song

Hello Everyone. Hope you are about ready for the big day-only a few more days to go now. Welcome to my new followers and a big thank you to everyone who leaves a comment it is always so encouraging.

At Fun with ATCS you can choose a song to make your ATC.

I chose Dolly Parton's Love is Like a Butterfly

I distressed the white background lightly with a few colours of DI Then I stamped on LOVE from a set of stamps by Chocolate Baroque. The butterflies are also part of the same stamp set.

Let it Snow

Hello everyone I hope you are having a good day. For those who asked how the film, The Hobbit, went for us--it didn't. Our cinema is only a small one and they had been sent the super duper 3D version of the film and their equipment didn't show the film properly so the ticket lady advised us not to bother paying our money for the tickets. Oh well we will wait for the DVD. Not sure I could have sat still for 3 hours anyway.

At Show Us Your Twinchies the subject is Let It Snow. Hopefully it won't snow but it always looks nice on Christmas Cards.

I used a small part of an old Christmas card for the backing and a lovely little snow man I bought in a patchwork shop when we were on holiday. To this I add the text and some 'diamonds'

A tag for Craft-Room Challenge

Hello Everyone--I hope your Christmas Preparations are going well. Ours must be as we are taking today off and going to see the Hobbit in 3D. Well I will be seeing it in 3D but Vic can't see well through one eye so he will have to just see what he can. :( He is the Hobbit fan so he will enjoy it anyway.

This time The Craft-room Challenge is to make a Tag so I have made mine to give as a Christmas/New Year greeting to one of our neighbours.

This is a tag within a tag really-outside

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone at the Craft Room and thank you for the great challenges

Out of a Hat Challenge 38

Hi All--how are you today? I hope you are well and have had a nice crafting week.

Sorry to say that Florence has left Out of a Hat as she wants do other things. We have Florence to thank for getting the four 'Hatters' together in the first place. I have enjoyed seeing what she made each week and learning various techniques from her. Good Luck Florence in all that you do. Chrissie xxx

At Out of a Hat Creations this week the subject is Winter-hopefully this will get it out of the way quickly and we can think about Spring. I am still using things that Janet sent to me and we are swapping this project as we did the last one. This came about because Sandra and Florence were taking time out so Janet sent things for us to make the projects then swap them. It is such a great idea and I am sure we will do it again--thanks Janet

I painted the circles Black though they don't show up too well on the photograph. They have been distressed with gold. The images are some I found online of vintage winter scenes. The flowers have been coloured by various means to give then a bit of texture and interest.

Do go to see what  Sandra and Janet have made and say hello if you have time--we all love to hear from you.

Thought I would show you this as well as I have made up a pattern and called it a scarf collar. I have worn mine several times and I knitted one for Vic and he has worn his as well which amazed me. I didn't put buttons on his as he is bald so no chance his hair will get ruffled if he pulls the collar over his head.

This is me wearing mine

what it looks like from the front

what it looks like from the back--the collar just fits around your neck then you fasten the button. I can't wear a whole big jumper under anything so this just fills the gap at the top of my coats.

Celebrate the season or light

Hello everyone hope your day is going well.

At Anything but a card you can create something using the theme light or to celebrate the season.

I will be using this as a table decoration at Christmas and it sure celebrates light as well so should qualify for the challenge. I took pictures of it outside and then in the dark when I had lit the candle. This is just so simple and after it has been used for the table I can just use everything as it was before. I started out with a very nice dish that is pearlised and raised the candle up on a piece of metal I found in the shed. Then I raided my odds and ends box that has lots of bits of old jewels and beads in it. These I arrange around the candle to catch the light.

with the candle lit in the dark-looks better in real life but difficult to photograph.

outside showing the jewels

outside showing the dish

The gold beads are on some long pins with a jewel on the top.

That's it really-easy peasy.

Bingo at ATSAM

Hello Everyone-hope your day is going well. We have thick frost here and it is very cold but The sun is trying to come out so all is well. Always easier to craft with sunlight I think.

At Addicted to Stamps and More this time it is the Bingo Challenge so lots to choose from to make your project and ,as always, terrific samples as inspiration.

The red is the rectangle, the flowers and the swirls. The free is the Love stamp and the paper I made in PSP to match the rest of the card and did rosettes from it from it as well..

Fun with ATCS Embossing

Hello All--Nice sunny day here though very cold so will need to get wrapped up to go for a walk. Hope your day goes well.

At Fun with ATCS you can use embossing of any kind so I used a folder and powder on mine though it doesn't show up too well on the photograph.

I stamped the text and hearts stamp and then embossed it with Heat it Up-red tinsel. It looks quite nice but doesn't show up too well on the photograph. Then I distressed the background and used Cosmic shimmer mist for a bit of extra effect. The letters are from an old peel off--no 'es' left unfortunately but at least I am using all the peel-offs up which was a goal for me. Still many to go yet :(

The last thing I did was to run the ATC through the Cuttlebug in an embossing folder.

A recipe challenge

Hello Everyone--hope you are well and happy. It is a cold and frosty morning here so a nice day for a brisk walk along the seafront me thinks.

No not that type of recipe--thank goodness cause I don't do cooking lol.

At Artful Times Neet has posted a list of things and you can make anything you like that includes them.

This is what I made with a stamp that was a freebie from 'Cardmaking in easy steps' magazine. There were 12 images and I like most of them. It was a while ago and I am not sure I have seen one of the magazines since then.

I used an old ink pad for the background and just sort of splodge it across the tag as it was ready for the bin really. I don't like to waste anything!

I wasn't sure what the strange round thing was as I found loads of them in various colours when we were away on holiday. Vic says they are caps cases for guns -children's ones I hope. I think all the recipe elements are there and I enjoyed making the tag.

Make you Mark 5

Hello everyone--hope you had a nice weekend.

At Addicted to Stamps and more this week it is time to get out your markers once again. This time I have stamped onto photo paper and used some felt tips--I saw this on Florence's sample. Thanks for the tip Florence.

The stamp is one from Crafty Individuals and I just used simple layering of papers and card for the background.

My Lovely Artwork from Cindy

Hello Everyone--hope you are well and happy and enjoying your crafting. First snow here this week but it has gone now so maybe that is it for this year--she says hopefully :-)

I thought I would show you this lovely piece of Christmas Art that I won in Cindy's last draw. She always has a monthly Give Away and all you have to do to be in with a chance to win is to leave a comment on the Art Draw post--there is a link to that when you click on the picture of her latest offering on the right hand side.

Do go and visit Plant's List which is Cindy's blog home. You could be the next winner.

This is the very beautiful garland that I received with a matching card. Thank you so much Cindy for your generosity and the wonders that you show on your blog. You bring joy and happiness for sure.

Challenge 37- A Shrine-Out of a Hat Creations

Hello everyone and welcome to my new followers-hope you have had a happy and healthy week and enjoyed your crafting.

Must say I panicked a bit when I saw this challenge come Out of the Hat I had never made one before and wasn't even sure what it involved.

As I was going to be swapping mine with another of the Mad Hatters I needed to think how to use some of things she had sent for us both to have the same things to use on a few of the following challenges. We could use them on any of the next three challenges-then swap our makes. Thank you Janet for the idea and the great items you sent.

Janet sent the easel and canvas and the square shape that I used for the top of the shrine. She had also sent me the Hatter stamped image a while ago so I used that as well. It is by IndigoBlu-Alice 1. The wooden embellishments are from Crafty Emblies

I also made a box shrine but it was such a venture into the unknown and I am not really pleased with it.

I painted the outside of the box red then painted little 'flowers' around the edge. Then I stamped the quote straight onto the box--very brave.

Inside are some little bits of tree, some pebbles and a sparkly heart.

If you want to see what the other Hatters have made click on their names Janet and Sandra

Willow Sketchie Challenge

On a roll--must be the cold weather keeping me busy.

Nice to join in at Willow Sketchie Challenge again. I do love the digi images and the way you can get them instantly by download.

The beautiful little bird I just downloaded from Willow Designs and I used the already coloured version as I wouldn't have been able to make it look as good--I will be trying to colour the plain version though.

Here is my version of the sketch though I did add a few flowers to fill the red gap as it looked a bit bare without them. The panel with the image has a lift up front

This is what I wrote underneath/

Traditional Christmas Colours

Hope your day is going well everyone. It is very cold here so after doing a bit of shopping I think crafting is definitely the way to go.

At Show us your Twinchies this time we are asked to make a twinchie using traditional Christmas colours. So many colours are used on cards these days but the green, red and gold always makes me think of Christmas.

Here is mine-a decoupaged poinsettia and some fine gold peel-off strip around the edge of the card.

I made it from this ribbon I have had for years and used for a few things. First I backed a bit of it with card and cut out the poinsietta shape and some leaves then I kept juggling various bits of the image to make it fit the twinchie as the ribbon was too wide.

Addicted to stamps and more-sketch challenge

Hello Everyone. A bright but very cold day here so I have been doing some crafting-what a mess the table looks now so I guess some tidying is called for when I have done this post.

Time for another sketch at Addicted to Stamps and more. Love sketch challenges as they are a great way to get some cards in hand and especially this time of year.

The stamp is one I have had a very long time by inkadinkadoo but it always makes me smile. Coloured it with Promarkers and the lipstick ran a bit -well it usually does after a few drinks lol. Not that I have had a few drinks !

The patterned paper I made myself in Painshop Pro and all of the rectangle shapes have been passed through the Cuttlebug in folders to give them some texture.

Not sure where the digi image of Christmas Joy came from but it is lovely.

Hope your day is going well

Wicked Wednesday -Frame it ATC

Hello Everyone--hope the sun is shining where you are as it is here although it is a very cold sun.

I have found Wicked Wednesdays and they have ATCs challenges so I thought it would be nice to join in.

The challenge this time is 'Frame It' and there are some really lovely samples from the DT

Here is mine. I made the clock background in Paint Shop Pro. Then I made a piece of metal from aluminium tape and dry embossed it in a folder then distressed it with various inks to make it look older. The frame is a die cut that I played around with to make it the right size.

I just love this steampunk boot image that I got at Beyond the Fringe I have used it quite a few times so anyone who visits me often will recognise it. The letters are some peel-offs I have had for a while. I am sorry to say that my new silver pen doesn't show up too well on the photograph as it is really great. Silver on end and gold the other. It is made by Zig and I got it from Joanna Sheene's online shop.

Out of a Hat Mousetrap

Hello to my new followers and to everyone thank you for all the wonderful comments you leave on my blog. If you are in the UK I hope the floods have kept away from where you are. We get very little rain here on the NE coast but it has rained on a few days this last week.

The challenge this week at Out of a Hat Creations is to decorate a mousetrap. We had this challenge a while back and a lot of people said they couldn't get a mousetrap and would like us to have it again so they could join in.

Here is the one I have made. The scroll at the bottom was awarded to him by the Queen of Mice

I found the free to use digital image online and what a handsome creature he is. The background is painted and stamped.

Hope you will join us in this fun challenge

You can visit Florence, Janet and Sandra to see what they have made for it.

Craft-room Challenge-Chic Francais

Hello Everyone-hope you are all safe and well

The challenge for the next 2 weeks at Craft-room Challenge is Chic Francais. Seem like Paris springs to mind when I think of France as that is the only place I have stayed in France. I have spent hours and hours on a coach in the driving rain heading for Italy through France but I would like to forget all of that:(

I made a background with a beautiful picture of the Eiffel tower by night then I printed out pictures of various famous building in Paris. The deco stamp was free with the November/ December copy of docrafts Creativity magazine and is a nice big stamp to use. Coloured with Promarkers.

I used a punch on two of the corners of the card and some peel-offs in the other two corners. The bits left behind from the corner peel-offs were great to fill up a few spaces.

Sorry it's Paris girls.

Anything but a card-see related challenge

Hello everyone and welcome to my new followers--always lovely to see you and read your comments.

At Anything but a Card this time the challenge is to make something sea related. They also have a beautiful picture as inspiration if you would rather use that.

I chose to do underwater for my project.

I have had this note book for a long time meaning to alter the covers as it had Disney Characters on it. I bought it because I liked the idea of a notebook with a lock and 2 keys--little things please little minds so they say :)

The first thing I did was to put a very thick layer of cream coloured paint all over the outside of the book. When that had dried I used H20 paint to give it a bit of a glossy finish in a sea colour. I found the freebie mermaid image and printed it onto acetate then coloured on the back so the colours would show through.

Then I used some very thin sticky tape around the edges of the acetate to stick it onto the book. As an extra to hold it in place I added the fish emblies which I got at Crafty Emblies. Seems to be holding in place so far. Always a problem to know what to use to hold acetate in place. Any suggestion would be gratefully received.

A Day for Daisies Challenge

Hello everyone-hope your day is going well.

The challenge at A Day for Daisies is to use the adorable snowman image that is given to you to enter the challenge. Thank you for the image and for the challenge.

I have made this wall hanging-all I did was print out the digi image 3 times and colour them then stick them onto some silver and white card. Then I added the festive ribbon. It looks lovely on the wall so I am leaving it there.

Retro Sketches number 39

Hello everyone--hope you are happy and well and safe if you are in the UK areas that have floods

What a great way sketches are to get through the Christmas card list and the sketch at Retro Sketches this time is just wonderful -well they always are to be honest

I kept this fairly simple really with just things that I had in my Christmas box. I now need some more green and red card and I thought I had bought loads.

Thank you for the challenge

Anything Goes at Artful Times

Happy Sunday everyone--hope you are safe from the rain and floods where you are. It has just stopped raining here and we haven't had much at all in our little corner of NE UK. I do hope I haven't spoken too soon :(

At Artful Times for the next 2 weeks they have an 'anything goes challenge' so do pop over and add whatever you are making. Neet and Von will be sure to welcome you and you can see what they have made for the challenge.

I have made this paper napkin holder for my MIL as she has invited us for a meal on Thursday and I always try to make something to take with me as a thank you. She likes really big paper napkins so I have allowed a bit of extra space each side just in case she finds any that are larger than the ones I have bought--these are large anyway-the ones I usually buy were hidden from view when I tried them in this holder.

I made the box shape from strong cardboard--old Amazon boxes mostly. I stuck it with parcel tape around all the edges and liked the colour so left some to show when I added the gold and white card to all the sides and the back. Everything else you can see--a bit of paper distressed with Rangers ink pad and the same for the text. The flower bits I have had for ages so I put several together to make a flower. The little circles are from Candi. If it all sounds simple it wasn't it took me all yesterday and all this morning to make it -me and box making don't mix too well.

That's it girls

CAS at Addicted to Stamps and More

I am getting used to the clean and simple challenges now thanks to Addicted to Stamps and More where they have this sort of challenge every few weeks. This week it is a free choice of subject.

I bought a stencil template and hadn't a clue what to use it for-it is rather nice and was from Imagination Crafts. I started out with a piece of white card, my brayer and a big and juicy ink pad. Next I used the brayer to cover the stencil thinking the ink would go onto the card--wrong! I turned the stencil over onto the card and it left a really nice image--the one you can see on the backing card and the flowers. Then I sprayed gold spray paint--a very nice removable variety--using the stencil--that doesn't show up at all on the picture--sob sob.

A bit of gold backing paper for the leaves that were on a card I received ages ago. Then I stamped thank you straight onto the card--clean and simple-hopefully.

Challenge 35 at Out of a Hat

Hello Everyone-hope your week has gone well.

Great to see what people made for the 'Use your Stash Challenge' at Out of a Hat last week and to read the comments . Everyone who left a comment had one entry in the prize draw and everyone who entered a project had two entries. Vic drew out one person this morning and the winner is ---Tracey B

This week at Out of a Hat the Challenge is Music. Another very wide subject--with song titles, music images of all kinds and also you can make anything you like so long as it has the theme music somewhere on it.

Here is what I have made

The box was all covered in some music paper I made by scanning some old music, song sheets I had from way back.
The image I made in Paint Shop Pro from several images. I also made the the quote tag. The wonderful grand piano is from Crafty Emblies , I am entering the challenge there with this box as it is Shabby Chic there this month, the lace Sandra sent to me-thanks Sandra. I coloured all the edegs with a brown Promarker.

This is the inside. I used the image I made to make some notelets and added envelopes as well.

I almost forgot to take a picture of the old box that I used I had already started to cover it when I remembered. It is an M&S, Eau de Toilette box with a date on it 2003. I did buy the box at a car boot sale because I liked the shape and it is a nice strong one.

I'm sure you would like to see what Janet, Florence and Sandra have made for this challenge and if you have time say hello to them

Look forward to seeing what you make if you would like to join us and make music :)

The challenge at Fun with ATCs is Faces

Well today my head is full of Leonardo Da Vinci cause I went to Hull Art Gallery to see 10 of his drawings which the Queen has lent to the nation as part of her  Golden Jubilee Celebrations. It was amazing how many people were there and so far there have been 10,000 people in just a short time, viewing these little drawings.

This image isn't one of the drawings but it one I have always admired. I made a Leonardo backing paper then decoupaged the image twice onto the ATC. The quote I found on Google and is by the great man himself.

Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone-hope you are having a good day and the weather is better where you are than it is here in NE UK.

A nice sketch again at Retro Sketches this week-so pleased I have managed to fit it in as I have made a card for a neighbour from the sketch.

The card was from a pack I bought that had the edges already shaped. I drew some gold 'stitching' to pick out the edge shape.

The music paper I made by scanning  some sheet music that I have had a long time. The paper with the words was from a paper pad I bought years ago and I don't know who made it-sorry. I just added a topper that was in a set I bought at The Works.

Great samples by the team as always.

Two colours Twinchie

Hello Friends and Followers-I hope you are all well and happy today. It always makes my day when you pop in.

Great samples as always at Show us your Twinchies and 2 colours is more difficult than I imagined it would be. I am hoping that white isn't a colour or this twinchie has 3 colours :(

It was in 1992 that I got my first version of Paint Shop Pro and was addicted to it straight away. I was looking through some very old folders the other day and found a folder with lots of pixel images that I had made way back when in PSP. so what is this to do with a Twinchie Challenge?

Well! I made a background from the little pixel frog then printed it out a couple of time a bit larger to cut out and add to the Twinchie. Heaven knows what the quote means but it must be true cause I found it on Google. :) I made a crown and added a jewel and that's it.

Green and black--hopefully-everything crossed.

Red and White at ATSAM

Hope everyone has had a great week

This week at Addicted to Stamps and More the challenge is to make something using red and white. I didn't seem to have much at all in red and white but you can always find something somewhere lol. Brilliant samples as always from the DT. Afraid my card is a bit simple :( I did try stamping a background but the red ink pad had 'gorn orf 'and I drop some on the carpet and it made a lovely red splodge.

Difficult to photograph red-the cog and the layer are red in real life but look dull on the photograph.

I went to Poundland and bought the red and white cord yesterday. I used a TH cog shape and passed it through my crimper to give it some texture. Not sure where the sentiment with the ribbon came from but it was just right for what I wanted to use the card for.

Technique Tuesday

The challenge this time at Technique Tuesday is to follow a tutorial that shows you how to make a 3D image from punched shapes. I made two images from very simple shapes as I did try a more complicated punch first and it didn't work for me.

I'm still on a quest to use up my peel-offs so added a few to the card.

This was a nice easy tutorial to follow and some great examples by the DTS as inspiration.

Use some of your Stash at the Hatters

Hello Friends and Followers. Thank you for all the wonderful messages this last week and to the people who joined in with us at Out of a Hat Creation for the Locks and Keys Challenge

This week at the Hatters we are asking you to use some of your stash to make anything that you like.
We have made our projects from some material and lace that were in a  parcel sent to us by Lorraine. There were other things in the parcel as well and I have put some of  them in the bag I made for this week's project together with some other things from my own stash. If you would like to win the bag and stash all you have to do is leave a comment on the post at Out of a Hat or enter your own project into this challenge-if you do enter the challenge then your name will go twice into the hat. Next Thursday morning, before we publish the new post there, I will put all of the names into a hat and draw one out to be the winner. The name will be announced in next week's challenge post.

Here is the finished bag which you will win with the goodies inside.

This was the bag before and all I did was made a shape to fit over the bottom part of the bag then make the flowers from the lace and some of the material that was left over.

This is a little lavender pillow made from the last bit of material and some lavender seeds I collected from our garden.

Hope you will visit Janet, Sandra and Florence to see what they made for this week.
