New Challenge at Try it on Tuesday is Steampunk or Mechanical

Hello Everyone. Nice to have you visit Jumbled Crafts today and thank you for your visit.

Time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday where the theme this time is Steam Punk or Mechanical. You can make anything you like and in any way you like so long as it follows the theme. We hope you will join in with your take on this challenge. Lots of inspiration from the rest of the team so pop and see what they have made and visit their blogs and say hello if you have time. Also we have two new team members for even more inspiration. Welcome to Joan and to Rosie, great to have you as part of our team.

I made a cup but I am sure no one will want to drink from it as it is very heavy and the silver paint inside might not taste too good. I think it may be good for Vic to keep in the shed with his screwdrivers in it.

My cup was from McDonald's and the outer shell peels off quite easily

Stick this to a piece of thick paper then cut out the shape

Next I used aluminium foil stuck to strips of card and passed through the Cuttlebug with various file but you could just add tin foil and scrawl some patterns on it or try pressing rubber stamps into tinfoil to make the patterns.

Cover the shape with random bits of the foil to make it look more punk. Then highlight the seams with a tool of some sort. lightly run over it with a black in pad then wipe off any excess.

Spray the cup inside and out with any paint you have and then stick the outer back on and add decoration in a steam punk style. I have lots of old watches that a friend gave to me so used some of those

Done forget to join us at Tag Tuesday for the animal theme that still has a week to go. Some great makes already for that challenge

Have fun

Love Chrissie xx

  10. Embossed aluminium is one of my favourite thing! Cheap and so impressive. I see lots of ideas and recycling in this project, not only steampunk but imaginative too! Well done Chrissie, xx.

  16. Chrissie I think this is fabulous hard to think it started as a plastic cup. You achieved a great metallic finish and it's too good to keep screws in.
