Inchie and T Day

Hello Everyone and thank you for calling in along your blog journey.

At Every Inchie Monday this week the theme is frog

Rivet, rivet to all of you from Freddie the Frog

Elizabeth and Bluebeard welcome all to their 'Tuesday T Day' and all you have to do is a drinks related post so what could be simpler. You meet the nicest people at this party and I am really enjoying getting to know them.

Happy T Day to all of you.

First of all I found another 20p mug at the car boot sale

The base.  I didn't clean off the sticky bits yet

Now to a day out to forget.

Last weekend we needed to go somewhere quiet and away from hospital visiting and thinking about Vic's mum for a little while. We settled for Withersea that is down the coast from us and is a very quiet little place where not much ever happens.

We thought something was strange when the bus driver told us to get off the bus before the town and walk in as the bus station was closed. Why was the bus full of people and why were there people everywhere? Well there were 3 festivals on all at the same time. HELP! No buses back for 2 hours!

First festival bikers--enjoyed seeing that festival as most of them were my age and I used to be a biker chick in my teens.

Second festival was pirates and parrots-only saw one of those and his lady friend was somewhere he said.

Next was fairground stuff but nothing was working or giving rides. I think they open in evening.
None of the above frequent Withernsea usually.

An escape along the seafront was called for, it is such a lovely peaceful walk. No it isn't! They have shipped in huge diggers and piles of rocks to try and shore up the place as it is falling into the sea all the way along--as is most of our coastline. Too little to late

So what next. Well there is an inland light house? It has trips around it but last time we went it wasn't open week days so we never got to see inside. This time it was only open weekdays and this was the weekend so we still never got to see inside.

A photograph of the back from a beautiful garden. It is the coffee shop but it was closed at weekends

Two hours up so got the bus back to Hull to change buses and get one to go home.

Cup of tea first then a nice meal on Hull station in the revamped cafe.

It did us good even without the peace and quiet we were looking for.

Have a great day

Love Chrissie xx

  1. ou tell your story so amusingly! It reminds me of a children's book called 'Peace at Last'. Your frog must be a prince in disguise, he's so handsome.

  2. That was quite the adventure Chrissie. A good way to take your mind off everything going on with Vic's mom. Loved seeing all the festival photos. Hugs-Erika

  3. Oh I do love your adventure stories...frustrating with all those closures but it looks and reads as if you made the best of it...it was different, anyway and that lighthouse looks as if it might have some stories to tell...love your "wild" cow mug and lovely textured frog, a great image. Dixx

  4. Trying to play catch up here. Sorry I'm so late visiting. I'm sure I've missed a lot and will be back to see what tomorrow (today in your world).

Sometimes the unexpected is better than quiet. SO glad you didn't get stressed, but went with the flow. It's a wonderful way to see places I'll probably never get to see and events that I'll never get to attend. So, thanks to you and Vic for doing that. BTW, I hope his mother is doing better. I also had NO idea your coastline was washing into the sea.

The frog is fabulous. I always LOVE seeing your inchies. Is it time to see an update on what you've done and mounted so far (hint)?

Really enjoyed the lovely mug. Being a foreigner, so to speak, I finally figured out NL was the Netherlands. DUH! The mug is a great addition to your beautiful mugs, and the price was certainly right. BTW, what is a car boot sale? Do they sell goods out of the trunk of their cars? Have always wondered.

Vic looks rather relaxed with his tea. What a great photo of him, too. Thanks for sharing your trip, your mug, your inchie, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday.

  5. Glad you managed to get away for a 'quiet' day out, you really picked the right day. Main day you saw some things you liked. Those bikes are super. Vic looks happy with his drink. Love the inchie, too. Have a good week, and a happy T day, BIG hugs, Valerie

Sweet your frog and the cup!
I wish you a nice day

  9. sounds like quite an adventure although everything not smoothly. I love your new cup! that is sad about the shoreline falling into the sea-I wouldn't think the big rocks will help much in the end.
glad it turned out as a nice time though Happy T Day Kathy

  11. Rivet, rivet to Freddie Frog - the skin texture you created is wonderful! Another lovely mug and your day out looked so much fun, I'm loving all those motorbikes and the inland lighthouse is beautiful 😁. Wishing you a very Happy T Day Chrissie! J 😊

  12. Lovely frog and great photos of your visit, even though it wasn't what you expected. At least you get out and about. Just popped in for a break from gardening, where two frogs made me jump when I cut down the plant they were hiding in.
    Hugs Wendy

  13. Managed to run past your frog without him jumping!!! I'm pleased you turned what could have been an ordeal into a fun tale of coming across at least some things to entertain you! Vic looks happy with his cuppa and the cafe looks to have some very comfy chairs! We'll have to arrange something to get our two tea drinking men together for a photo - maybe York nearer to Christmas? Happy Tea Day! Chrisx

  14. That mug would find a place in my cabinet :) It's fun finding mugs that are not like all the others.

Your peaceful time away ended up in a place with multiple festivals and shoreline work! Wow! Glad you found a peaceful cuppa.

    Happy T Tuesday

  16. Oh wow - three festivals!! Usually it's bad enough when there's just one but three must mean loads of very different people all congregating in one place but the beach looked peaceful. Anyway it sounds like you had a lovely day and your frog is super.

  17. wow...guess you got quite a few surprises, but hubby looks like he has retained his sense of humor. 3 festivals at once surely must be a record! quite odd that the lighthouse tours don't go on during the weekend. Where we live in the U.S., things tend to be open on the weekends and not during the week, just the opposite! Well at least different scenery for you, and hope you can get another truly relaxing outing next time! happy T day!

  18. Gosh, that was an outing with a difference! But unexpected things are always fun. Hubby looks like he has taken it all in his stride.
I love your inchie and of course the mug is beautiful. As I am from the netherlands, I can appreciate a Dutch cow when I see one.
    Happy belated T-Day,
    Lisca

  20. I love your latest mug acquisition, Chrissie. It's quite unique and beautifully done.

You were a biker chick? That's a surprise. You have to share a photo sometime!

That a shame about your coastline. I hope something effective can be done. But it's hard to fight Mother Nature.

"Withersea - a very quiet little place where not much ever happens." Except when you need a nice quiet break. Glad you could make the most of it.

    Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
