Happy New Year and T Day

Hello Everyone

I hope you all enjoyed the festive season. We had a wonderful time staying with daughter Linda and SIL Graham. with lots of fun and good food.

Elizabeth and Bluebeard are our hosts with a drinks related post every Tuesday so do join in with the wonderful T Ladies as all are welcome.

This was our Christmas meal that Linda and Graham prepared for us. A traditional mix of turkey and all that goes with it. The drinks were wine for L and G and a very tasty, special tonic water for Vic and Me as we don't drink alcohol. We had Christmas Pudding and a tasty' brandy flavoured sauce as well. The crackers had allsorts inside but all had a quiz and a charade word to act out. We had fun with those after the meal.

It is my birthday today(Jan 1st) so friends and neighbours will be calling in with greetings as that is what usually happens.

I wish you a very peaceful, healthy and happy 2019

Santa at Try it on Tuesday

Hello Everyone

I expect by now most of you are very busy preparing for the holiday season. This will be my last post until the New Year as I will be visiting my daughter until then. I will have my phone to use when I have time but haven't worked out how to posts on that. I hope you have a peaceful and happy time.

I made this from a post I did way back in 2011 it is about the hand made flowers if you want to read it here

At Try it on Tuesday they have the theme 'Guess who is coming-it's Santa'. Every entry has to have Santa on it somewhere but you can make whatever you like in any style.

I drew the Santa a long time ago and scanned it to use on projects. The topper was made digitally and mounted on shiny red card and a blank black card. Not sure where the label came from but the stars were punched out by Vic to add a bit of sparkle.

Not sure if I will be online before next Year but I will be thinking of  you all if not.

Have a Great Time

Tag Tuesday Hearth and Home

Hello Everyone who drops in at Jumbled Crafts

This will be my last tag for Tag Tuesday until the New Year and you have all of December to join in with Wilma's Hearth and Home theme.

The image is part of one from a Lily of the Valley topper given to me by my daughter along with many others. Not sure who the backing paper is made by but it does come from a way back when set . Vic did me lots of shapes a while ago as my wrist aren't strong enough to use the punches now. I have a bag of stars all different colours. Just wish my printing was better!

Have a great day

Happy T Day

Hi All

As always on Tuesdays, Elizabeth and Bluebeard. are hosting T Day where they invite everyone to join in with a drinks related post.

I have been sorting out some old photographs and found this one of me almost 30 years ago. I used to do 1000 piece jigsaws and cover them in sticky backed plastic to use as table centres, I did several table settings with different jigsaws and Vic took photographs. I sent the photographs to a magazine and they published them and I got paid a small amount. I can't believe how different I look or that the beautiful Crown Derby tea service was dropped by me when it was packed away ready to move house, all the pieces were broken. My grandfather won it as a prize at a fishing competition.

This will be my last T Day post until the New Year as I am going to stay with my daughter in Cumbria for the holiday season.

Have a great time

AJJ Seasons and Santa

Hello Everyone

Hope you are enjoying the weekend. Beautiful sunny day here.

At Art Journal Journey the theme this month is My Favourite Season or Tis the Season. These were chosen by Elizabeth. This is my second entry for the challenge.

This was made from magazine cuttings and a Lily of the Valley topper.

My daughter gave me this pack and many others so I could make cards for Cat Protection to sell.

The page is based on the song by William Shakespeare called A Lover and his Lass from As You Like It.

On Tuesday night Santa came to visit where we live with some of his elves collecting money to buy treats for the poorer member of our town. They come every year and it is such a jolly half hour with loud music and people out on the roadway singing along.  There are sweets for all who would like them. Not something people do at any other time of year though we are all friendly.

Have a wonderful day

Hearth and Home

Hi All

Such a wet and cold day here today I am going to spend it crafting. Plenty of knitting, sewing and crocheting projects on the go as well as wonderful blog challenges to enter.

At Tag Tuesday for the next 2 weeks Wilma has chosen the theme Hearth and Home. Always something new to think about on TT

I have done a digi tag for my first entry this time and made a bit of play on the themes

I have noticed that when we go to see my daughter and son-in-law and their three cats, there is always a cat or two between us and any heat source.

Here are Felix and Willow in their radiator sheepwool hammocks. The hammocks click onto the radiators. Willows's twin, Oscar, would rather find a warn lap to curl up on as he doesn't like the hammocks.

Hope your week is going well

Thank you for calling in

AJJ and T Day

Hi All

Here we are already into December and Christmas is just around the corner.

At Art Journal Journey this month Elizabeth has chosen 2 themes, My Favorite Season or 'Tis the Season'

For my first entry for this theme I have made a page for my digital journal. I started out with a digi image from Dearie Dolls and used a photograph of my face with a hat and beard. The other images were found free to use on Google and I have had them in a folder for a long time. The frame was also found on Google.

Elizabeth is also hosting T Day where you can post a drinks related post every Tuesday and become one of the T Gang, they are such a lovely group of ladies.

My very, happy dog mug got chipped and isn't any use for drinking out of now. I went to the charity shop and got another 50p mug and it is so good to drink out of, also easy to hold as well. Still making flap jack and it is all gathering on my hips unfortunately. We need something to cheer up on the dull wet days of late so that is my excuse.

Vic had some pieces of wood in the shed so he made a frame and we went to collect lots of leaves and cones and bits and bobs to make a bug house for the garden.

We got the idea from a park in Lytham when we went this year. Ours is only small at the side of this one.

Have a great T Day

Love to all who drop by

Ginger update

Hello Everyone

It is time to show a past project with Elizabeth's second on the 2nd.

I posted this on the 2nd of October this year

I thought you might like to try this. A few weeks ago I was cleaning out the veg tray in the fridge and found a piece of wrinkled old ginger with the skin still on it. It was in the recycling box and Vic took it out and planted it in a large pot. Then it joined lots of other things that are growing from cuttings and stray seeds we found. Yesterday he brought it inside to show me what had happened. It is up to my chin and looks like it may be a 'Jack and the Bean Stalk' before too long. There are three more shoots coming from the bottom as well. It needs heat now the weather has turned cooler so it has a place at the side of the fire. You can grow plants from many of the peelings, seeds and old veg that you throw away.

This is the plant today. It is now above 6 feet tall and has 5 shoots in the pot and all from the same piece of old ginger. I love the way it casts shadows on the white wall when we turn on a light.

Have a great day and thank you Elizabeth for the great idea of reposting something on the 2nd every month.

Winter Wonderland at TIOT

Hello Everyone

Hope you are having a good week. Cold and wet here most days but always good to fit some crafting in to brighten a dull day.

At Try It On Tuesday this next 2 weeks the theme is Winter Wonderland.

I'd also like to enter this at Moo Mania and More where their theme this time is Trees.

This is an animated digi collage. I used one of our photographs as the background and various free images found on Google.

I started out with a picture of me and Santa taken in 2010 and another pic taken on the same day. We set off from home in light snow and walked all the way along the cliff top to Sewerby Park. By that time it was a white out and the snow was quite thick. Poor Santa has landed with his reindeer to give children presents but none turned up by then even though lots of tickets has been sold. We hadn't even known he was going to be there so it was lovely to get a warm hug from him.

It might be nice to see some bright snow but none forecast so far this year.

Have a great day

Happy T Day

Hello Everyone and especially the T Day Ladies

I hope your week has started well and that it is going to be a good one for you.

Almost Tuesday again so it is time to join Elizabeth and friends with a drinks related post. I forgot all about it last week-sorry everyone.

Not been very nice weather so far this week but it is always great to go for a coffee overlooking the sea at our Leisure Complex. It was demolished and rebuilt a few years ago and is now an amazing place with three swimming pools/acivity pools, spaces that caters for allsorts of sports as well as whole floors for gym workouts and dancing classes. The downside is that the price to be a member is way out of our range with no special offers as the old place had. It is booking only for the activities and nearly always full so they won't miss us.

The amusement park closed for the winter

A view of Flamborough Cliff with the lighthouse at the end

The best bit for us now is a beautiful place to have a snack and a drink overlooking the bay with all that it has to offer. Vic forgot to get a plate for his prepacked sandwich and he does love chilli crisps so one very happy hubby.

Last year I thought my Christmas Cactus had reached the end of its days as it looked so sad by Spring. (I bought it many years ago as a small plant in a small plastic plant pot). We decided to put it among some of the other pots of plants outside and it began to look a lot better. They do say that these type of cactii shouldn't be moved from the same place but we brought it back in again about a month ago and it look at it now!

So pleased to have ignored the experts and let it mingle with 'friends' for the summer

Happy T Day to all who call in at Jumbled Crafts

Tag Tuesday

Happy Weekend Everyone

Here I am with another tag for the Tag Tuesday challenge. Joan chose the theme this time and there is a great grid for the Tic Tac Toe.

For this tag I have chosen the middle line across with patterned paper, brads and an image.

I did go a bit 'brad mad' and even used one to fasten on the gold paper tie

Other brads were used to fasten on the image and the centre of the flower is a brad.

Hope your day goes well. I am going to get my haircut or put back into some sort of shape.

Tic Tac Toe at Tag Tuesday

Hello Everyone who drops by

Dark and wet weather here this week and I haven't been feeling too well so could do with some sunshine if anyone has any to spare.

At Tag Tuesday they have a Tic Tac Toe grid this time with lots of very interesting combinations to choose from. The theme was chosen by Joan and she made two great tags to inspire us all.

I chose the line on the right with reused item, image and lace or ribbon but will cetainly be trying another one for sure.

The background is embossed card lightly smeared with a black ink pad

My used item is an ATC card from way back when-I am not sure who sent it to me as the back isn't on it any more.

The image and quote I cut from leaflets that came through the door to advertise something or other

Lots of ribbon added here and there. I think the dog looks cute with his ribbon collar.

Thanks for the Challenge Tag Tuesday

Have a great day

Combined Challenge Entry

Happy Weekend Everyone

A very dull day so far here but sun is forecast for later so I am looking forward to that. Hope it is ok where you are.

I have made one journal page for two challenges.

The theme at Try it on Tuesday this time is Friends and Family and at Moo Mania and More they have a Tic Tac Toe Grid. Plenty of time still to join in both challenges

A great combination of things to use I think.

I chose the row I have highlighted in pink. My bits and bobs box was just waiting for this sort of row as I have lots of  small pieces of designer paper and also many die cuts in there. Even the circles were in the box.

The background is covered with some of the papers and then I doodled and stamped here and there. I really enjoyed making this page. Thank you to both Blogs for the challenges.

Have a Great Day

Poppies and Simple drink for T day

Hello Friends

Such awful fires in the US. I hope all of my US blog friends there are safe and the fires die down soon. Thinking of all those who have died in the fires.

At Tag Tuesday the theme this time is Poppies and was chosen by Wendy I have made a digital tag with California poppies on it and a map of the areas that are prone to Wildfires. Still another week to join in this theme so hope to see your poppy tags.

It is T day once again and anyone can join in with Elizabeth as she invites us every Tuesday to share a drink related post with all the other wonderful ladies that join her there.

On one of the sunny days, this last week, I wanted to challenge myself and walk all the way from home to Sewerby Park. It is a walk we used to do often until my knee became too painful for such a hike. The walk is almost flat and all the way along the seafront and the clifftop. We could stop anywhere and come back home so I had everything to gain and nothing to lose really as the return trip would be by bus.

There are animals in the large pens as you enter the Park from the cliff top

 Then lots of wonderful trees

Next is the walled garden with amazing plants in different sections

This is one of the greenhouses in the walled garden. The garden is a special project run by, mostly volunteers, and it helps special needs people to learn about plants and to grow them then sell them to the public. We get lots of wonderful plants from here. It was decorated with crocheted poppies for Rembrance Day

At the side of the greenhouse are some seats in a very sheltered and sunny place. Here is where we chose to have our drink, from flasks, and home made flapjack

It was such a surprise when someone entered the greenhouse and waved to us as it was friends who had had the same idea as us on the day. We all sat in the sun together for a chat. They had come by car and wanted to get back home but we still wanted to drink in more of the wonderful park.

Have a great T Day

Poppies at TT

Hi All

I hope your week is going well.

Dark and dull here today with rain forecast for later so it looks like a good day to do some crafting.

At Tag Tuesday this time the theme is Poppies and was chosen by Wendy and her poppies post is here. The themes for the challenges at Tag Tuesday are always really good  and there is plenty of time to join in.

I am sure anyone of my age has a tale about World War 2 or even World War 1. Making the tag reminded me of my dad. It was said that he was never the same person when he came back from his awful experiences in France. I was born whilst he was there so never knew the man before. He was only a lad really, in his very early 20s when he went after marrying my mum just before that. I was born 10 months later.

I found this free to use colouring page on Google and coloured it digitally with lots of effects. Then it was printed out 4 times so I could do decoupage on the poppies and tin helmet

The background tag is covered in alluminium tape and run through the Cuttlebug with a TH Alterations folder. I rubbed this with black ink and worked it into the raised bits. I haven't done any decoupage for ages so it was a nice change.

Hope you have a great day

T Day with Elizabeth and Friends

Hello Friends and thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts

I am joining in again with Elizabeth for her get together on T Day. She hosts this every Tuesday and you welcome to join in if you include a post that contains a drink so hope to see you there

I bought a new mug this week from a charity shop and it was only 50p. It makes me smile every time I use it so I am so happy that I bought it.

This is the mug filled with decaff coffee and my breakfast with brown toast and cheese followed by fruit-not the whole lot just one piece

Last week in my T Day post I was making decorations from felt and a box of beads

It was very time consuming trying to find the beads and sequins whilst they were all muddled up in the same box. This week I spent a couple of hours on two days sorting them all out into categories.

I did this one spoonful at a time and it wasn't too difficult that way

Now they all fit on top of one another and I can use them much easier. Lots of pieces cut out and ready to decorate. It was therapeutic as well to just sit and listen to music and sort beads

Have a very Happy T Day

Love Chrissie xx
