Bye for now

Dear Friends and Followers

At the moment I don't feel I am able to fit everything into my life that I want to do so something has to be on hold for now.
Jumbled Crafts has been a big part of my life since 2011 and I have really enjoyed joining in lots of challenges, being a member of amazing teams and getting to meet, in person, so many of you over the years. Thank you for the friendship and support.

Spring and Nature

Hi All

Hope everyone is safe with all the high winds around at the moment. Good for drying the washing but not good for our walks to the seafront.

At Art Journal Journey this month Jo has chosen the theme Hello Spring.

I added another page to my scrappy journal. I try to add some things from a magazine or newspaper in this journal.
I felt like I was still a child when I scribbled the background. Sometimes doing the simple option feels so good. To that I added the words from an Argos catalogue and did some stamping here and  there. Last thing to add were the cut-out flowers.

At Moo Mania and More the theme they have chosen is close to nature. Another page in the same journal for this challenge.

The background is chalks in various colours blended together.
Then I used the Geckogalz Darling Dragonflies sheet and cut out some of the images from it. The letters were cut from various magazines to spell out the word. I drew around the edges with Sharpies pens.

Have a great day

A word, Easter Bunny and Ginger Update

Hello Everyone

Today I have 2 digital entries for two of my favourite challenge blogs.

At Try it Tuesday this time the theme is 'Inspired by a Word'. Still almost a week left to join in and such a good theme with lots of scope.

I chose the word WOMEN as they seem to be in the news so much this last week and many of them for inspiring reasons.

At Tag Tuesday this time Wilma has chosen the theme Hares and Rabbits. Plenty of time to join in this challenge as it only just started.

I made a fun tag and I think I may use it to make a card for the 3 year old boy that lives next door to us. The image is one from here and I always love to use these fun images. I added a background I made and also some brushes images.

Do you remember the small piece of old ginger root I found at the back of a fridge shelf last October?  Vic planted and it grew into a  beautiful plant over 6 feet high.

This last weekend it suddenly withered and and we wondered why. Vic took it outside and tipped out the contents of the pot.

It was difficult to believe our eyes when we saw what came out. The pot was full of these pieces of ginger. I have put a post it pad to show you how big the pieces of ginger are. We had some of it in a stir fry in the evening and it so fresh to cut and to eat. The smell is amazing as well.

Hope you enjoy your day

Happy T Day

Hi All

A warm welcome to everyone and greetings to the T Ladies who join Elizabeth and Bluebeard every Tuesday to post something drinks related.

We got up very early one morning during this last week and walked along the seafront to have breakfast at the East Riding Leisure. It was good to have a day off from decorating the bathroom as we had met problems along the way and got a bit fed-up of being in such a small space.

I took pictures along the way

 Lifeboat station and Spa building

Apartments overlooking the lifeboat station and the sea

 Interesting sky patterns
Walking past the Spa and the harbour wall
 Looking out toward Flamborough head

Yorkshire Belle a very old Leisure cruiser that does trips for all in the summer.

Finally arrived to have scrambled eggs on toast and coffee-decaffe for me. Overlooking the other part of our seafront. It is totalally different from 'our' end with a pebbled beach and, often, rough seas.

Hope you all have a great day

Tags for TT

Hello to all who call in at Jumbled Crafts

Sorry I  haven't been around for a while and apologies for not commenting on any blogs. We are decorating at the moment and with a small house it means every room seems to be a mess until it is all done. Hopefully it should be back to normal by the weekend.

At Tag Tuesday the theme is 'My Favourite Stamp. and was chosen by Joan. I always keep 'my fave' handy and a pad of black ink so I made this tag.

I covered my tag with a patterned paper and used most of the images of the set below.

The quote is a stamp by https://www.shop.artbyjenny.com.au/products/quote-stamp-stamp-darkroom-door. I don't have the stamp but I did cut out the quote from something I received by post a while ago

Also made a digital tag with my favourite digital stamp that always makes me smile whenever I see it.

This is a Pippi stamps and I have a few of them that were free or I won as prize-not sure which. The stamps are here

Have a great day all. I am off to help Vic again as he is doing something that needs 2 people--he will have to make do with one and a half.

Hope to be back to normal soon

Powders and Women

Hi All

Weekend again already and it has been a wonderful week for weather here with lots of sunshine. It attracted lots of families as it has been the half term holidays. There were even people paddling in the sea. Today we have cold and mist so not a day for the beach.

At Try it on Tuesday they have the unusual theme Powders this time. I do like to join in with the lovely ladies there but hadn't a clue what I could find for this theme.

I found a small pot of embossing powder-no make on it just F28 on the bottom? The pressed chalk powders were a box that my daughter gave to me years ago and have hardly been used at all.

I ran the card through a folder to make the spots. The background of this is chalk powder and a splodge of  the embossing powder that turned gold when I heated it. The rabbit image is from Lily of the Valley and I cut around it to fit the card.

At Moo Mania and More the theme for the next 2 weeks is Women

The ladies are Miley and Sadie. Characters I drew in 2014. They are coloured with Promarkers and were photographed to use on projects.then long forgotten about until this challenge.

Hope your weekend is going well

Thank you for calling in

Hello All

Here I am again joining in at The Three Muses where the theme this time is Cityscape

I thought I would give a shout out to the town of my birth, Sheffield in South Yorkshire.

It was an interesting city to spend the first 25 years of my life and I still like going to visit there even though it has changed so much now. A lot of my family still live there as well.

Thank you for calling in at Jumbled Crafts

Tag and T Day

Hello Everyone

Hope your day has gone well. I seem to have been playing catch-up all day and there seems to be so much to do now my daughter has gone back home. I just leave everything while she is here and enjoy our time together.

At Tag Tuesday this time Wendy has chosen the theme Mushrooms/ Fungi. Still another week to go before the theme ends.

This tag is a digital one with the fairies and Pan having a party in the night.

Elizabeth and Bluebeard welcome all to their T Day gathering and all are welcome with a drink related post

This last week my daughter came to stay with us and we had a wonderful week with lots of fun and wool crafting. Linda made the crocheted things but I do all the sewing in of loose ends and the knitted bows etc.

These are crocheted brooches and I kept a few for myself and Linda took one to Vic's Mum.

I knitted the Easter chicks with Cadbury's cream eggs inside-Linda crocheted 2 of them-can you pick them out?

A mixture of crocheted animals with chocolate oranges inside
Crocheted Easter rabbits with chocolate oranges inside
Catnip mice as toys for cats-I thought the smell was awful but cats love it apparently. Crocheted by Linda

One evening we went out for a meal at the Lobster Pot just around the corner from where we live.

This is Linda and me enjoying pints. Mine is lime and soda and her's is cider. Vic has the same as me as we don't drink alcohol at all.

We all had different meals. Linda a rack of lamb. Vic a steak and I had something very different that was new to the menu. A sweet waffle with torn chicken breast and chicken goujons. The sauces were maple syrup ans coleslaw. It was really nice but I didn't eat the chips even though they were with skins-whatever that means.

Have  a very Happy T Day Girls and Bluebeard

Postcard and Collage

Hello Everyone

Nice to have some sunny days again while my daughter was here. She has just gone back home this morning and the house seems very quiet with just me and Vic.

This week at Sunday Postcard Art the theme was chosen by Sabine and is Masquerade

It is difficult to get my arty, crafty head on again as we have been knitting, crocheting and going places while Linda was here.

Take a Word have the theme Purple this time

I used a photograph that I took in Peasholme Park in Scarborough and added colouring effects to make it fit in with the theme. It was day with a lot of mist when I took the photograph but it wasn't purple for sure.

Enjoy whatever you are doing today

Tag and Collage

Hello Everyone

This week is flying by and my daughter is coming to stay with us today until the weekend. We always seem to fit so much in when she comes and have such a lot of fun.

This week at Tag Tuesday the theme is Mushrooms/ Fungi and was chosen by Wendy. Two weeks to join in so hope to see you there.

I found this fun threesome as a free download. I thought it didn't need much else on the tag but I added a flowered background paper and edged some of the flowers and all of the mushrooms in black ink.

At The Three Muses week the theme is Africa

I always think that the painted masks of the tribes are folk art at its best so I did one of my own but had a picture of  a mask that I copied loosely. I made PSP brushes with the African symbols so I will be able to use them again

Have a great day

Journal page and Happy T Day

Hi All

Tuesday already so welcome everyone and a special welcome to the T Gang who join in with a drinks related post at Elizabeth and Bluebeard's T day gathering. Anyone can join in with the great group of gals. Thank you E and B for hosting this every week and helping us to get to know lots of people from other parts of the world.

This is a nice place to eat along our seafront. It is based on an American Diner but the food is all the English things  people want when they come to the seaside. Cooked breakfasts and burgers with chips. There is a fish and chip shop opposite and one on the next corner so I don't think the diner does those. I couldn't count the number of fish and chip shops in our town there are so many. The fish comes in fresh to our harbour every and most of the places sell wonderful meals.

This is what I like best for breakfast. Thick slices of wholemeal toast with butter and orange marmalade. The tea is decaffe as since I had the kidney stones I keep away from caffeine in anything. I do miss a nice strong coffee but the kidney pain I had makes me think twice about having one of those

Art Journal Journey has the theme Yellow chosen by Rike

I am always fascinated by the way that Elizabeth uses things she has cutout and saved from magazines etc. to use them in her beautiful artwork.

I decided to search through some free shop magazines to see what I could find. The background is done with chalks and I was brave enough to do some of my own writing for the words.

Thank you Elizabeth for the inspiration and Rike for the yellow page theme

Have a great Day

Love and Sunshine

Hello Everyone

Happy Sunday where ever you are and hopefully the weather where you are isn't too extreme. Ours isn't too bad today but Friday night it was so windy and rainy that we didn't sleep much at all because of the noise. Strange how there are always rattles and bangs that you never hear unless the wind is so strong.

Take a Word and Moo Mania and More both have the theme Love is in the Air at the moment so I am entering a collage and a mini moo version of it

The digital collage

and the moo version of the collage

At Sunday Postcard Art this week Anne has chosen the theme Sun

Another lovely theme and such fun to make the postcards

Have a wonderful day

Tag for a few challenges

Hello Everyone

The weekend is almost here and I am looking forward to more rugby matches tomorrow. Today we are venturing along the seafront to see MIL but will be coming back on the bus as the wind is from the south and will be in our faces if we walk back.

What a lot of hearts, romance and love challenges are around at the moment so I made this tag to share with three of my favourite challenge blogs. Tag Tuesday, Try it on Tuesday and Moo Mania and More. Hope you will pop along to all of them and make something for the challenges there

Tag Tuesday have Hearts-Hearts-Hearts chosen by Michele and you have until Monday night to join in there.  I added heart brads and a flower made from punched hearts

Try it on Tuesday would like some romance on your project. Plenty on this tag with my Auntie Jeanne and Uncle Alf's wedding day 73 years ago. The sad little bridesmaid on the left is me aged almost 4. My Aunt and Uncle both died quite young unfortunately but my dear cousins are so like them and just as lovely in their nature as well.

Moo Mania and More has the theme Love is in the Air and I have added lots of love to this tag.

I intend to send the tag to my Aunt Jeanne's younger sister who is very much alive and is 94. She will so pleased that I have used the photograph for a project. The sad little bridesmaid on the left is me aged almost 4. My Aunt and Uncle both died quite young by today's standards but my dear cousins are so like them and just as lovely in their nature as well.

Have a great weekend

A Post Card and White Space

Hello Everyone

I hope your week is going well.

I am really enjoying doing some digital pieces at the moment and finding places to join in with them.

Sunday Postcard Art this week has Nursery rhymes as their theme. The piece must be 4x6 or 6x4 but you can use any medium you like.

My next stop is The Three Muses blog and this week the theme is white space.

I had my daughter's three cats in mind when I made this collage. All three of her cats are black and white. Nothing is sacred when they are around.

Have a great day everyone and thank you for calling in.

Year of the Pig and Happy T Day

Hi All

At Take a Word this week the theme is Year of the Pig. Always lovely to look at pictures of the Chinese new  year. I am never quite sure what my animal is as I was born on January 1st. and the Chinese calendar starts in February.

I am also once again joining Elizabeth and Bluebeard to celebrate T Day. Anyone can join in there if you have a drinks related post to share with us. A really lovely group of people with many and varied interests to share.

Most days this past week I have stayed in until the ice thawed a bit on the paths but we were going to see Vic's mum one day so we set off really early. The sun was just beginning to shine on the seafront

This is the harbour top about 2 miles from where we live and just over a mile to Vic's mum.

Along the way we stopped at The Prior John for breakfast

Vic's idea of a breakfast is lots of fried stuff and strong coffee.

The only thing I fancied was a bacon bun and a very weak, decaffe coffee.

All this was in The Prior John that is our local Wetherspoons pub. This chain of pubic houses has a reputation for being full of heavy drinkers but we have been in so many in the UK I have lost count. All have been amazing and are usually created from beautiful old buildings that might otherwise have been pulled down and lost forever. Worth a pop in even if you don't buy anything, just have a look around. Every Wethies has the same cutlery, pots etc and the same food and drink at the same prices I think. Some now do Pizzas as well but not ours so far. We already have lots of Pizza places so maybe they won't do them.

Last year on our Blackpool holiday we ate nearly every meal in the Velvet Coaster. That is a newish Wetherspoons and is just amazing inside. There are 2 more Wetherspoons in Blackpool and the one behind the tower is well worth a visit. Not tried the one in front of the tower yet.

Downstairs entrance

Log heater for a cold day

Roof Terrace for a hot day lots more seating with different views

The ladies washroom and that is something I wouldn't usually show but well worth a visit just to sit and look at the wonderful views

One of the ornate mirrors in the 'Ladies'

Have a great day all
